Headed by Dr. Paolo
Ciavola, the COastal Processes
Research Unit (CO.P.R.U.) includes 1 research
staff, 2 full time PhD students and 4 students
on Masters course of Earth Sciences. This
informal research group is based at the
University
of Ferrara in the Department
of Earth Sciences. Dr Paolo Ciavola
has 10 years experience in research and
consultancy in projects involving coastal
processes, coastal geomorphology and coastal
management.
The research objectives are concentrated
on modern and recent aspects of Geology
with a particular focus on coastal processes,
coastal geomorphology and coastal management
that occurred on different types of environment
: coastal inlets, beach with defended and
undefended continuous coastlines.
Research has often been conducted within
the context of European research programmes
like SWAMIEE,
F-ECTS
and INDIA
supported by the CEC.
The C.O.P.R.U also collaborates with
Consorzio
Venezia Nuova (Venice, Italy), local
delegate for the Magistrato Alle Acque.
Strong links also exist with Thetis
S.p.a., environmental engineering
firm based in Venice.
